The Belly Casting Process

Creating the belly cast is fun and very easy to do.  It takes approximately 30minutes to one hour depending on how quickly you proceed.  It is generally done on pregnant women in their final trimester, between 37 and 40 weeks.  It can be done at anytime, but this is a good time to capture the belly when it is the largest .  Some people make casts of the three trimesters to remember  the different stages of their pregnancy.

The cast is created out of plaster casting material and is safe and easy to use.  Plaster strips are wet down and then applied to the pregnant torso.  It is quick drying and starts to harden in 3-5 minutes.  Once the covered area has hardened, the cast is lifted off the belly and the pregnant impression remains.  It can be decorated with paints, dried flowers, as a collage, or by pasting in pictures.  It can also be left in it's raw state and displayed as is.   It makes a great wall hanging for the nursery!  More decorating ideas...
We have spent a lot of time researching and testing various products and have chosen the products in our kit carefully.   Everything you need to make the belly cast is included in the kit, you just need a pair of scissors, a pan of water, and an extra pair of hands to help create it.  It is an intimate experience that can be shared with your partner, family member, or close friend.
